This is approximately what Koenigs farm looked like when we first moved to Coburn in 1950. Koenig was still alive, and he had a group of people working the farm and garden. I think they were his relatives that were living with him at the time. I assumed that from conversations my parents had. What we didn't know was John Koenig passed away in 1951, the year after we moved to Coburn. Everyone else who was working the farm left on his death. There was one person still living there and not knowing any better we always thought it was John Koenig. Turns out it was his adopted son who lived there. He was slightly mentally deficient, so he had no place else to go. So, he lived there by himself until he was finally rescued by local authorities who found him wondering around Altoona with no visible means of income. I don't know what happened to him after that, I'm guessing he was put in some assisted living someplace.
We always hated Feathers dump and their family because they always had such a mess going there. But Luke told me the original dump was not at Feathers place, it was at Koenigs farm. If you walk up there you will find lots of old bottles laying on the ground. They were dumped on Koenigs farm years before Feathers ever moved there.
